Pua Kala

STATUS:    Endemic       Easy to propagate

APPEARANCE:

Grows from 0 to 2,000 meter elevation on the leeward sides of the main islands except Kauai.  The plant itself grows up to 1.5 meters tall.

Flowers: Flower has yellow center, with 5 to 6 fairly fragile white petals.  Buds are oblong 1.6 to 2.4cm, smooth or prickly.

Leaves: Conspicuously glaucous, oblong-elliptic, 8-21cm long, 6-11cm wide. Variegated white and green with thorns.
