STATUS:       Endemic, Endangered, Easily propagated

APPEARANCE:

Bush 4 to 8 meters tall.  Grows from 250 to 300 meters in elevation.

Flower:         Although similar to koki‘o ‘ula, the flower is smaller and darker red; lipstick red in color.

Leaves:         Ovate, dark green to light green immature leaves
